Fatal Fire in Lincoln RI

LINCOLN,RI- A fast moving fire just after 5:00am today, in the Fairlawn section of town, took the life of a 7 year old boy. Fire crews from Saylesville reported heavy fire conditions on arrival from the Cape style house with reports of occupants trapped. It was also reported that other residents of the home saved themselves by jumping from the second floor.

The fire, which took place at 3 Earl Street, took over an hour to bring under control after firefighters were order out of the building due to deteriorating conditions and water problems in the area.

The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall's Office. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Photos and video courtesy of Phil Sullivan at www.wellinvolved.com .

High Winds Cause Massive Tree Damage in Attleboro

ATTLEBORO- High winds this morning caused major damage to trees in Attleboro causing many wires to come down and damage to several houses. While most of the damage occurred in the uptown area the damage was wide spread across the City. ACN will bring you more info as it becomes available. Fatal Accident on Route 95

ATTLEBORO- A motor vehicle accident on the off ramp from Route 95 north to Route 123 (Exit 3) claimed the life of an Attleboro man late Sunday evening. The victim's SUV rolled over in the accident and he was ejected onto the roadway. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and he was pronounced dead on the scene. Attleboro Fire and Police responded to the 10:00p.m. crash along with units from the Massachusetts State Police who are reconstructing and investigating the crash. Update: The victim of last nights crash has been identified as Michael Pare,58, of Attleboro. Massachusetts State Police said that speed and lack of seatbelt use appear to be contributing factors in the accident.

Fire Destroys Cumberland, RI Hair Salon Following Possible Break In

CUMBERLAND,RI- Cumberland, Rhode Island firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 1150 Mendon road around 11:45 pm Tuesday night. Upon arrival companies had heavy black smoke billowing from the one story commercial structure which houses a hair salon. Crews attempted to make an aggressive interior attack however were driven back by intense heat and poor visibility. Shortly after the deployment of the initial attack lines firefighters were ordered out of the building. Although it appears as though the salon was closed at the time of the blaze, it has been reported by several people on the scene there was a break in shortly before the fire occurred. This has yet to be confirmed by police. No injuries were reported. The building is a total loss.

2nd Alarm in Providence RI

PROVIDENCE, RI- A 2 alarm fire early this evening tore through a 3 story apartment house on Manton Avenue and Salmon Street in Rhode Island's capital city. First due fire companies reported heavy fire conditions in the building which eventually ripped through the roof. Two Tower Ladders quickly extinguished the fire and firefighters remained onscene for extensive overhaul of the building. Fire Chief George Farrell declared the fire in the vacant building suspicious.
