It is with deep regret ACN announces the passing of William Anthony "Bill" Jolly, father of ACN founding editor Greg Jolly. Mr. Jolly passed peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2009 surrounded by his loving family at home. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Greg and his family during this difficult time.

William Anthony "Bill" Jolly, 72
ATTLEBORO - William Anthony "Bill" Jolly, 72, of Maple Street, Attleboro, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2009 at home. He was the beloved husband of 23 years to Denise A. (Derosier) Jolly.
Born in East Foxboro on July 29, 1936, Bill was a son of the late Joseph and Violet (Dubrowski) Jolly. He was raised and educated in Foxboro and was a graduate of Foxboro High School, Class of 1955. Following graduation, Bill enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps on Nov. 29, 1956 and was honorably discharged at the rank of corporal on Nov. 28, 1958.
Mr. Jolly was employed as the head custodian for the City of Attleboro School Department for 17 years, retiring seven years ago. For the past five years, Bill was employed by the custodial department of Sedexo for the Attleboro School Department. Earlier, he was a manager at the former Lantern Lodge in Norton for a period of 20 years.
Bill was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed playing lottery scratch tickets and taking trips to Foxwoods Resort Casino. But the greatest enjoyment in Bill's life was his family, and he especially cherished the time spent with his three loving grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Denise, Bill is survived by two sons: Gregory G. Jolly and his wife Kathleen of Attleboro and Stephen A. Jolly and his wife Kristina of North Attleboro; two daughters: Kimberly A. Diamond and Julie A. Jolly, both of Attleboro; three loving grandchildren: Kacey Amanda Jolly, Kellen Michael Jolly and Ava Kathryn Jolly; two brothers: Joseph Jolly and his wife Liz of Dennisport and Kenneth Jolly and his wife Claire of East Bridgewater; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was the beloved brother of the late Leonard Jolly, Angelina Fallon and Jeanette Schultz.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 9 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, celebrated by the Rev. Richard Roy, pastor. Mr. Jolly will be laid to rest with full military honors in Mt. Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mt. Hope Street, Attleboro Falls.
Following burial, an invitation is extended for all to return with the Jolly family to the Attleboro Lodge of Elks, 887 South Main St., Attleboro for a time of continued friendship and fellowship.
