2 Alarm Fire Guts Plainville Home

PLAINVILLE-  A two alarm fire early this afternoon gutted a 2 story single family home on Lincoln Street. A man living in the home was rescued by a neighbor, when he crawled out the second floor onto a roof, after being awakened by his dog. The neighbor placed a ladder to the roof and helped the resident down just as firefighters arrived. The fire, reported just after 12:30, brought crews from North Attleboro, Wrentham and Norfolk to the scene to assist Plainville firefighters.

Fire crews had the blaze knocked down in about 15 minutes with extensive overhaul needed to totally extinguish the fire. There was 1 firefighter injury reported, a hand and wrist injury, and the firefighter was taken to Sturdy Hospital. The fire, which started on the first floor, is believed to be accidental but the fire is under investigation by Fire Chief Ted Joubert and the Plainville Fire and Police Departments. Accident on Route 495 in Plainville

PLAINVILLE-  Route 495 northbound in the area north of Exit 14 (Route 1) was the scene of an roll over accident with 7 victims around 11:00am this morning. Five Rescues were called to the scene including ambulances from Foxboro,Wrentham, Mansfield and two from Plainville. 5 patients were transported to area hospitals, including 4 to Sturdy Memorial in Attleboro, with minor injuries. The 2 more seriously injured victims were taken to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center in Providence

According to Plainvile Fire LT. J. R. Skinner the accident, which is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police, involved 2 vehicles one of which rolled over. The "Jaws" tool was used to free two persons from a van. The accident took place on the median side of the highway in the high speed lane. Plainville and Wrentham also sent fire engines to the scene for assistance with removal and packaging of the victims for transport to the hospitals. The wet road conditions caused the highways to become hazardous at the time of the accident and the morning rain made travel difficult.

Early Morning Fire in Plainville

PLAINVILLE- A fire early this morning caused damage to a occupied home at 52 George Street. The fire was reported just after 3:00am and Plainville firefighters, led by Lt. Harrop, had the fire knocked down and under control within 10 minutes. Fire crews from Wrentham and North Attleboro were called to help with the fire and assist with station coverage. The cause of the fire, believed to be improperly stored combustibles, is under investigation by the Plainville Fire Department and Fire Chief Ted Joubert.
