Rehoboth Accepts Delivery of New Pierce Engine

REHOBOTH- The Rehoboth Fire Department accepted delivery of a 2008 Pierce Contender on Friday October 17^th. The truck has been designated Engine # 3 and will run out of Station # 3 in the South End of town. Some of the features include a 1500 gpm pump, 750 gallon tank with 30 gallons of foam, 100 foot hydraulic and electric reels mounted in the left rear compartment, rear directional bar, seating for five with a passenger side EMS cabinet and inside ladder storage. Rehoboth Head On Injures Two

REHOBOTH- A two car accident late this afternoon sent two drivers to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident took place in front of 23 Providence Street in the south end of town. The drivers had to be freed using a hydralic tool. The accident remains under investigation by Rehoboth police.

2 Alarm Fire Burns Barn in Rehoboth

REHOBOTH- A fire in a barn behind a single family house in Rehoboth burnt to the ground late this afternoon. The exact cause is not known, although early reports were that a car stored in the garage section of the barn may have caught fire. Rehoboth Fire officials were also investigating a report of a lightning strike at the home earlier in the afternoon.

Fire Chief Robert Pray struck 2 alarms bringing in extra apparatus and manpower from  surrounding communities, including Swansea. The fire was under control within 45 minutes and the nearby home was saved. Pictures from the scene below.

 

Rollover Accident in Rehoboth

REHOBOTH- A rollover accident yesterday afternoon sent a 17 year old female to a Boston area hospital for treatment. The accident, which occurred around 3pm, took place on Allens Lane which runs between Agricultural Avenue and Homestead Lane. The female was flown to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston for treatment of serious injuries, officials said.

Firefighters worked for 45 minutes to free the victim before she was transported to a church on Tremont Street to meet the helicopter for medical evacuation. Her damaged vehicle had traveled off the roadway and rolled over into the woods off of Allen Lane. Rehoboth Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
